Barcode stock control
Panel → Stock control. Built to be used with a laser scanner in your hand, in front of the shelf.
Finding a product
Section titled “Finding a product”Scan it and the product comes up. It looks by barcode and, if it does not find one, by SKU.
When a product has no barcode
Section titled “When a product has no barcode”Almost no inherited catalogue comes with EANs: the ones that come from WooCommerce or a spreadsheet usually have a SKU and little else.
That is why binding exists: you find the product by name or SKU, scan once, and from then on that barcode identifies it. It is done once per product.
Correcting stock
Section titled “Correcting stock”The adjustment sets the quantity, it does not add or subtract. You count what is on the shelf and enter that number.
This is deliberate: in a real stocktake nobody knows how many units have left since last time, but anybody can count what they can see. A system that asks for differences forces a mental subtraction that gets it wrong.
Locations
Section titled “Locations”The adjustment goes against a specific location. If your store has several — your own warehouse, a supplier’s — make sure you are touching the one you mean: correcting the stock of a distributor’s warehouse does not fix what is on your shelf.
What it does not do
Section titled “What it does not do”It is not a full inventory with a movement history. It is the tool for making what the website says match what is on the shelf.
